The Advanced Placement US Government course will cover material which represents units 1 – 3 of the course which is the material that will be covered by AP US Government exam. The exam will be a 45-minute exam where students will be asked to complete two essays – one argumentative and one concept application essay. Students will be asked to respond in essay format to demonstrate their understanding of the key aspects of the course material. The examination is also an open notebook and open textbook test that is more geared towards the skill of writing than the memorization of material. This course will review the content involved, discuss strategies on how to write an argumentative and concept application essay and how to earn maximum points with the new scoring rubric. This course will be quite useful for students who are looking for effective strategies for how to prepare for this uncommon test.
