A note from your teacher, John Harrison:
The Advanced Placement US History Examination will cover material from 1754-1945 which represents units 3 – 7 of AP US History courses. The exam will be a 45-minute Document Based Question that will present a thematic premise and a variety of documents across a wide span of time. It will consist of 5 documents where students will be asked to construct an essay that evaluates their ability to analyze the information, analyze the source’s point of view along with a plethora of outside information that is not presented in the document. The examination is also an open notebook and open textbook test that is more geared towards the skill of writing than the memorization of material. This course will review the content involved, discuss strategies on how to write a DBQ in this new 10 point format and even review materials one should have next to them while taking the examination. This course will be quite useful for students who are looking for effective strategies for how to prepare for this uncommon test.
