Welcome, GCDS students! Carnegie Prep has been working closely with Greenwich Country Day School since our inception three decades ago. And while we now work with students around the globe, we are first and foremost a local business and are thrilled to provide our high standards of test preparation to students of the new Greenwich Country Day Upper School. At Carnegie Prep, we start by gathering what we call “the whole picture” — a student’s courses, learning style, study habits, extracurricular activities — which allows us to develop an individualized test prep plan. We work with students of all levels and abilities, and tailor our courses and tutoring sessions to prioritize student’s goals. Our SAT and ACT test prep curricula are backed by decades of evidence-based research and are designed by our teachers and tutors. We have developed our materials in conjunction with the evolution of the SAT and ACT, always with our eye on the tests’ latest changes. SAT/ACT Private Tutoring
At the heart of good test preparation is a meaningful connection between the student and tutor, and a measured plan for success. Our tutors tailor their SAT and ACT private tutoring sessions to each student’s unique learning style. Using practice tests to assess students’ strengths and weaknesses, tutors create customized lesson plans and worksheets to focus on the format, content, timing, and strategies of each test.
SAT/ACT Course Schedule
Our courses are designed to emphasize the skills, strategies, and content necessary for student success. Each interactive course is co-taught by two experienced teachers, and includes two timed, live-proctored practice tests and two optional extra-help sessions. Students are divided into two groups based on their current math course, and receive further individualized attention throughout the course with access to one-on-one office hours.
What Sets our Score Reports Apart?
When students take practice tests with Carnegie Prep, they get much more information than just right and wrong answers. We have developed our own unique test classification system for each standardized test, meaning that each question is coded into specific categories. With our score reports, students are easily able to identify their strengths as well as target areas for improvement.
