Description

Dr. Steve Yavner is a former Assistant Professor of Journalism at Central Connecticut State University, where he created and ran the Sports Journalism concentration. He was a sports anchor and reporter for 10 years in Florida and at CNN Sports in Atlanta. He spent an additional 15 years as a news anchor, reporter, producer, and manager in Florida, Boston, and Philadelphia, including running the CBS4 newsroom in Miami for eight years. He taught previously at the University of Miami and Fairfield University. Steve earned his Ph.D. from New York University. Steve and his wife live in Darien, and went through the college process with their four children.

ACT Summer 2024 Bootcamp 2

Course Description

The Summer ACT Bootcamp is designed for rising juniors who want to get an early start on ACT prep, as well as rising seniors who are looking to boost their scores. This bootcamp includes four classes and one proctored paper-based ACT. In addition, there is one optional extra help session.

**Please note that all classes will meet at Greens Farms Academy, 35 Beachside Avenue, Greens Farms, CT 06880.

Schedule:

1. Monday, 8/26: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

2. Tuesday, 8/27: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

3. Wednesday, 8/28: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

4. Thursday, 8/29: 1:30pm – 5:30pm (timed practice test)*

5. Friday, 8/30: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

*Practice Tests: The paper-based practice ACT is timed, proctored, and administered at Greens Farms Academy. The practice ACT begins at 1:30pm for those students with Standard Time and at 12:30pm for students with 50% Extended Time. Students are encouraged to take the practice test in person to simulate the actual test day experience. Students who cannot attend in person can take the test online with a remote video proctor.

**Extra Help session for this course will be held online via Zoom.

LUCA SAT Jumpstart Spring 2024

Schedule:

1. Tuesday, 4/16: 4:30pm - 6:30pm at SUNY Westchester Community College (SAT Overview)

2. Saturday, 4/20: 9:00am - 1:00pm at White Plains High School (digital adaptive practice SAT)*

3. Tuesday, 4/23: 4:30pm - 6:30pm at SUNY Westchester Community College (SAT Review, Content, & Strategies)

4. Saturday, 4/27: 9:00am - 1:00pm at White Plains High School (digital adaptive practice SAT)*

*Students will take a timed, proctored, practice digital SAT. Students with Standard Time will take their practice test at White Plains High School beginning at 9: 00am. Students with 50% Extended Time will take their practice test at LUCA offices beginning at 8:00am.

5. 30-minute Personalized Consultation**

*Practice Tests: are timed, proctored, and administered digitally (SAT) and on paper (ACT) at Greenwich Country Day School. The practice test begins at 6:00pm for those students with Standard Time and at 5:00pm for students with 50% Extended Time. Students are encouraged to take the practice test in person to simulate the actual test day experience. Students who cannot attend in person can take the test remotely.

NOTE: All classes run on Eastern Standard Time.
