Dr. Steve Yavner is a former Assistant Professor of Journalism at Central Connecticut State University, where he created and ran the Sports Journalism concentration. He was a sports anchor and reporter for 10 years in Florida and at CNN Sports in Atlanta. He spent an additional 15 years as a news anchor, reporter, producer, and manager in Florida, Boston, and Philadelphia, including running the CBS4 newsroom in Miami for eight years. He taught previously at the University of Miami and Fairfield University. Steve earned his Ph.D. from New York University. Steve and his wife live in Darien, and went through the college process with their four children.

Course Description
The ACT Blast is five sessions and provides an overview of the content, skills, and strategies required for success on the new, shorter ACT. The course includes one timed, proctored paper-based practice ACT and an optional extra help session.
Schedule:
1. Sunday, 1/11: 9:00am - 12:00pm
2. Sunday, 1/25: 9:00am - 12:00pm
3. Sunday, 2/1: 9:00am - 12:00pm
4. Sunday, 2/8: 9:00am - 12:00pm (Practice ACT)*
5. Wednesday, 2/11: 6:00pm - 9:00pm (online)**
*Practice Tests: The paper-based practice ACT is timed, proctored, and administered at Greenwich Country Day School. It will reflect the new, shorter ACT format and include the optional science section. The practice ACT begins at 9:00am for those students with Standard Time and at 8:00am for students with 50% Extended Time. Students are encouraged to take the practice test in person to simulate the actual test day experience. Students who cannot attend in person can take the test remotely.
