A student and teacher of history, Peter Katona graduated from the University of Michigan and earned Masters degrees in Education and Journalism from CUNY and Columbia, respectively.
Peter currently teaches high school history at Greenwich Country Day School.  Since 2001, he has taught various levels of American history and government, journalism, and film theory, as well as A.P. level courses in U.S. History and Government & Politics.  He is trained in I.B. pedagogy and engages in progressive and traditional techniques in order to connect history to students’ lives and world. Peter also coaches HS boys basketball and is the Dean of Student Activities at GCDS.
With roots in both Budapest and Brooklyn, Peter started at Carnegie Prep in 2019 and strives to create safe learning environments which invite free expression and curiosity.  He resides in Norwalk, CT with his wife, two daughters and son.
