Description

An alumnus of Greenwich High School, Duane Smith attended Indiana University, where he studied English literature. His interest in education eventually brought him back to the New York area. He holds an Master of Arts in English Education and an MPS in Educational Leadership from Columbia University and Manhattanville College, respectively.

Duane’s career in education began in 1995. An English teacher at Byram Hills High School in Armonk since 1998, Duane currently serves as the English Chairperson and teaches Global Scholars, a seminar on global competency for students in grades 10-12. He joined the Carnegie Prep teaching team in 2009.

Throughout his career, Duane has been actively involved with Bridges to Community, a nonprofit organization based in Ossining. A former board member, Duane organized numerous service learning trips to Nicaragua, Kenya, and the Dominican Republic.

He lives in White Plains with his wife and two children.
