A note from your teacher, Pam Boynton:
The AP Language and Composition exam has been retooled for 2020, not only for the abbreviated 45-minute format that was announced in early April, but the focus of the testing content, the free response scoring rubric, and the level of sophistication necessary for student success have been further enhanced. It is an entirely new exam, and I will take the “best practices” from the former exam and apply them to the new scoring parameters for this year. Students will read a short 600-800 word passage and respond with an essay analyzing how the author uses language to achieve his or her rhetorical purpose. Our course will provide students with directed writing outlines and strategies to elevate style through the 5As—a dash, anaphora, alliteration, appositive, and incorporation of classical, mythological, and/or Biblical allusions. Writing practice for homework will be assigned and graded, providing students with feedback necessary to achieve a high score on this unique test. I have more than a decade of experience in teaching this exam, and students will be able to ask questions with additional “office hours” throughout the duration of the course.
Optional Extra Help:
